| The villa a Trevi is splendidly secluded, yet it's hardly 12 km to the excellent red wines of picturesques Montefalco and only a couple of hours' drive to Rome. A simple house with swimming poll ideal for the enthusiastic hill walker and those seeking real peace.
In 1903, an American with the splendid name of Ergerton R Williams Jr. in a book called Hill Towns of Italy published by Hougthon MIffin Co. wrote that "Evidently the have few visitor at Trevi.... Horse and donkeys could clamber up the precipitous ways I saw cut in the rock with steps. The new road swept around the hillside in a three-quarter circle, affording magnificent views over the plain... The buxom landlady provided me whit a lunch not at all unpalatable. Thereafther I felt equal to climbing about the town... Streets they cannot be called - rather staircases. A great many of the facades are stuccoed and there are everywhere remains of the palaces of the Renaissance: I reflected that Trevi must have been wealthy 400 years ago." And his observations are as valid today as they were almost 100 years ago! You too can sit in the main square, enjoyng a "lunch not at all unpalatable" in the comfortable shade of a modern umbrella, reflecting that Trevi is wealthy still in spirit. Trevi is a special place - an undiscovered backwater.
"The villa a Trevi" lies 3 km beyond Trevi and the views are indeed "magnificent", sweeping over the Vale of Spoleto. The house is set in its own grove of 300 olive trees, one of the myriad olive groves which greenly clad the hills around Trevi. The owners of this unassuming house produce not only a first class, wonderfully fruity cold pressed olive oil, but also a good white wine, crisp and dry , and just the thing to enjoy with the view. The house is well supplied with both wine and oil -just help yourself and leave the cash. The commodation is simple , attractive and entirely comfortable. An open fireplace in the sitting room and a big squashy sofa contribute to the air of comfy , rustic simplicity. The modern kitchen , with ample dining area , is well equipped and has a goodsized fridge-freezer and electric oven with 5 gas hobs. The batroomare fresh and modern .Both bedroom are large as the beds are actually singles , there's plenty of scope to rearrange.
