
| OSPITALITY Castle opens its doors to whomever is in search of an oasis of peace and quiet.
The peacefulness of the area, the cleanliness of the air, the beauty of nature surround you while living in a refined and welcoming atmosphere... an atmosphere that is also autentic and ancient.
Here it is possible to enjoy the warm hospitality of an ancient family which, not wanting to trasform their Castle into a cold museum, preferred to give their guests an opportunity to live a few days as real lords of the Castle. 3 SUITES and 2 ROOMS, each whit private bath, livingroom, refrigerator bar, television and telephone, are for our guests who, along with the owners, can live thronghout the Castle, its park, forest and lawns. HYTORY Castle is a conglomerate of medieval buildings closed within Castle walls. There are many documents that verify the origins of the Castle, the most important being a decree of the holy Roman Emperor Frederick I, called Barbarossa (Redbeard), dated November 8, 1163. Since it is situated on a strategic location between Gubbio and Perugia overlooking the Chiascio valley, Castle was the scene of many important events of the XII, XIII and XIV centuries.
These events are written in numerous documents of that period, which are still conserved. The most important historical event, however, was the birth of Federico da Montefeltro on June 7, 1422.
Federico become duke of Urbino and an important man of italian renascence.
From this date, the events Castle remain tied to those of Montefeltro family. The restoration of the entire complex, between 1982 and 1989, aimed at the recuperation of all its parts, almost as if one can read on these walls the history and modifications done to the Castle, either for military or living purposes, like if it were written in a guide.
All of this forms part of its history and the history of the people that lived within its walls. DOVE SIAMO The Castle seats in the farm, that raises pure-bred Chianina Cattle in the pasture and horses.
The Castle is situaded in Chiascio river valley, at foot of Appennini Mountains and in the center of many places of art and culture of Umbria, Tuscany and March.
The physical enviroment.
The countryside is hilly, having pasture ground intermitted with bush areas and with rocks yupping up fron the soil.
The altitude of the farm goes from a maximum of 615 mt. to a minimum of 408 mt. above sea level, gradually decreasing from the top of the hills down to the Chiascio river.
The Castle is at 500 mt. The annual precipitation ranges around 1100 mm., varying from a maximum amount of precipitation in the months of Dec, Jan, Feb. and March, and a minimum in June,July and August.
Snowfalls are concentrated mainly in the monthsDec. and Jan., with same sporadics ones in Feb. and March .
On the average the ground remains snow-covered for 15 to 20 days a year. |
